With Verlatenkloof Guest Farm as your base, you can explore Sutherland and surrounds which is packed with memories of the Anglo Boer War. Then view the unbelievable beauty of the star-spangled night sky while sitting around the braai fire in the “geelbos” boma.

After the winter rains the fields boast the most beautiful Namaqua wild flowers. So, remember to bring your camera, it’s a feast for the eye!

Sutherland lies at an altitude of 1550m above sea level and is known for its snow and very cold nights. Fortunately Verlatenkloof Guest Farm lies at the foot of the Verlaten-kloof Pass and is at an altitude of 1020m above sea level. Due to the difference in height, temperatures at our farm are on average 5ºC warmer than in Sutherland.

Our guest farm is ideal for family get-togethers, team building groups, nature lovers, 4x4 enthusiasts and even motor cycle clubs. We offer a combination of accom-modation, with 3 fully equipped self-catering cottages, as well as caravan- and camping facilities.

For 4x4 enthusiasts we have a self-drive route with a difficulty degree of 3.  Low range is required as some parts are quite steep. However, the views along the route are amazing. We therefore recommend that you make a day of it to allow enough time at the view points.
