Verlatenkloof Gaste Plaas - Sutherland - Noord Kaap - Huisies - Karavaan - Kamp - Akkommodasie
Sutherland lies at an altitude of 1550m above sea level and is known for its snow and very cold nights. Fortunately Verlatenkloof Guest Farm lies at the foot of the Verlatenkloof Pass and is at an altitude of 1020m above sea level. Due to the difference in height, temperatures at our farm are on average 5ºC warmer than in Sutherland.
Verlatenkloof is ideal for an extended family visit, lovers of nature, mountain bikes and 4x4 enthusiasts or motor cycle clubs. We offer a combination of accommodation with 3 fully fitted out chalets as well as caravan and camping facilities.

Activities:

  • Relax and enjoy the beauty of the Karoo
  • Star-gazing (bring your own telescope or Alta will arrange an appointment for you)
  • Drive the challenging mountain passes and gravel roads of our district
  • Bird-watching – an extensive list of birds have been noted on our farm
  • View our most amazing Namaqua wild flowers early spring
  • Follow the trail of the Anglo Boer War
  • Bring your MTB
  • Hiking trail up the mountain
  • Visit SALT – an awesome experience. Alta will arrange an appointment for you
  • For 4x4 enthusiasts we have a self-drive route with a difficulty degree of 3-4.  Low range is required as some parts are quite steep. However, the views along the route are amazing. We therefore recommend that you make a day of it to allow enough time at the viewing points.
